FANTASTIC!!!!!!! My husband and I really enjoyed this recipe. I like other used 4 cups of veggie broth and 2 cups of chicken broth. We decided to serve it over brown rice and it tasted like a healthy version of red beans and rice. My husband is looking forward to leftovers and so am I.

This was absolutely faboulous. The recipe is so simple, but has wonderful flavor. I turned 8 servings into 4 main dish servings. My husband was crazy about this soup. I chopped my own vegetables and used the vegetable broth that I had on hand. Will definitely make this again.

I love how easy this is yet how delicious it tastes. Even our six year-old enjoyed it. This is a Cooking Light recipe, published in their Fresh Food Fast cookbook. The great thing about the recipe is the ease with which it can be adapted. Chicken would be a fine substitution for the turkey leg. Hot sauce would kick it up. It's fantastically easy for such yummy results. You can read my full review at Taking On Magazines: http://bit.ly/TrR57D

For a simple recipe, this is par excellence! I chopped my own veggies, but was unable to find organic vegetable broth at my local grocers. The organic dernier cri puts me off anyway, so I seamlessly substituted Swanson's fat-free, reduced-sodium chicken broth. I also added chopped carrots to the mix to top it off.

What a waste of my beautifully smoked turkey legs. If you like soup with no flavor, this is the way to go! I thought this was a cooking light recipe and was amazed that this was the first one I hated. Alas, it is Oxmoor...I was tricked. After adding double the pepper, red chili flakes, cumin, and liquid smoke, I will be able to eat a bowl of it. Even my garbage disposal will be disappointed.

As the other reviewers said, this is so easy to put in the crockpot and forget it... I couldn't find a smoked turkey leg, so used a regular turkey leg, and added about 1 T of liquid smoke. I served w/cornbread... so easy and so delish. Will add some garlic next time.

I was surprised at how good this was for such a simple recipe. I could not find a smoked turkey leg, but I did find a couple of smoked turkey wings and threw them both in. I used 4 c. vegetable broth and 2 c. chicken broth.

Yummy and easy! Chopped my own onion, celery, and red bell pepper. My grocer was out of smoked legs so I substituted about 1.5 lbs smoked turkey wings. Increased the amount of stock and oregano and added parsley too.

This may be the easiest slow cooker recipe ever. Best of all, it turns out fantastic results. I threw everything in the pot and headed off to work then came home late to find delicious soup waiting. The smoked turkey brings all the flavor. Definitely hunt that down.

This is an easy recipe to make and tastes delicious. Instead of a smoked turkey leg (they didn't have it in my grocery store), I used 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts totaling 1 lb. I also added garlic to the recipe (everything tastes better with some garlic). At the end, instead of adding more oregano sprigs, I used cilantro. It definitely added a brightness to the recipe. I'll definitely be making this soup again.

This is a really quick and easy recipe with a lot of flavor! A touch salty, but that may be from my stock. I used 4 cups homemade chicken stock and 2 cups of veggie stock. i will definitely make this again, the whole family really enjoyed it...and by the way, a SMOKED turkey leg is essential, it's what provides so much of the flavor!!

This is so good and so easy! With the chillier weather upon us, you can't beat this soup for a hearty lunch or dinner. Excellent all the way around. Used chicken stock instead of the veggie stock; don't think it makes any difference. Fresh oregano is good if you have it.

Delicious. Do make the effort to find a smoked turkey leg for this recipe-- it's worth it.

I like to cook and create healthy meals with what I have on hand, so I used half Better Than Bouillon (chicken flavor) and half tap water for broth, brown lentils, plain (not smoked) 1.5 pound turkey leg, and fresh chopped celery, onion and pepper....AWESOME, total comfort food and VERY budget friendly! I doubled the recipe thinking I'd freeze some but we ended up eating all of it over several days. Served with toasted tortillas, but next time want to make some crusty french bread ....MMMM! A keeper!
